From the Book: Featured Photographs Click here for a larger image This photograph was taken using the Canon T4i night portrait mode and an external flash. The camera properly exposed the subject while the slowing the shutter speed enough to capture the moving LED lights in the shoes, evening blue sky and house light in the background. The combination of the slow shutter speed, flash and movement results is a creative technique called Ghosting. I had to take a lot of exposures before capturing a composition I liked. The photo was created using a 12-24mm lens shot at ISO 800, f/4.0 and 1/5 second. Click here for a larger image I took this photograph holding the camera over my head using the Canon Rebel T4i Live view feature. I adjusting the cameras the vari-angle LCD screen so I could frame my image from an odd angle. This angle allowed me to capture the deep blue sky behind the orange leaf. The photograph was created using a 100mm lens, ISO 100, f/2.8 and 1/1000 second. Click here for a larger image The sun isn’t always in the optimal position when photographing nature and wild life. When you use the Canon Rebel T4i Back Light HDR mode the camera takes three quick photographs and combines the images to create a well-exposed photograph. When I took this photograph the light was much brighter behind the plant. So I used the backlight HDR mode to create a more even exposure.
