Bagi anda yang sedang belajar bahasa Jepang, memiliki sebuah kamus adalah sebuah keharusan. Kamus akan sangat membantu dalam proses belajar bahasa asing. Untuk bahasa Jepang, kamusnya tentu agak sedikit berbeda karena dalam bahasa jepang dikenal yang namanya karakter hiragana, katakana dan kanji.

Memiliki kamus di komputer tentunya juga akan sangat membantu dimana kita bisa mencari terjemahan dari sebuah kata dengan lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan harus membuka-buka kamus konvensional halaman demi halaman.

Di MacOSX sendiri sebenarnya sudah ada aplikasi kamus built-in yang namanya 'Dictionary'. Anda bisa cari di folder aplikasi sebuah file yang namanya Dictionary.app.

Secara default, aplikasi ini hanya menampilkan modul definisi kata-kata dalam bahasa Inggris. Namun siapa sangka kalau di dalam aplikasi ini juga sudah terdapat modul bahasa Jepang. Untuk mengaktifkan modul bahasa Jepang anda tinggal masuk ke Dictionary->Preferences...

Kemudian aktifkan modul Japanese-English (juga modul Japanese dan Japanese Synonyms kalau perlu).

Sekarang anda tinggal mengetik kata yang ingin anda cari terjemahannya dalam bahasa Jepang (kata yang anda cari harus dalam bahasa Inggeris). Di screenshot saya mencoba mencari terjemahan kata river.

Kemudian saya mencoba mengetikkan huruf kanji 金 (kin) dan mencoba mencari terjemahannya dalam bahasa Inggeris.

Untuk mengetikkan huruf kanji di MacOSX anda harus mengaktifkan keyboard Jepang. Anda bisa baca bagaimana cara mengaktifkan keyboard bahasa asing di artikel saya sebelumnya 'Mengetikkan karakter bahasa asing di macbook'.
